Interview:

VOH:  Today we are speaking with Dr Hollie Stack, DDS, practicing Dentist and partner in the Vienna practice of Covel, Stack and Henon, DDS, PC.

VOH:  How long have you been in business?
The practice has been located in Vienna for 35 years.  I have been with the practice for the past 15 years.

VOH:  What was the driving force for you to enter your career?
The love for the art and science of dentistry and a desire to help people.

VOH:  What are your biggest challenges today as a practicing dentist.
Dealing with insurance and managed care.  Unfortunately, this is an  increasingly “insurance driven” market.  It seems that too many patients elect to get treatments that are only covered by insurance while delaying other, perhaps necessary treatments that aren't covered.

VOH: Is yours only a general practice or do you offer some specialties?
We are a general family practice that offers a little bit of everything including orthodontics and cosmetic dentistry.  For me personally, I enjoy performing cosmetic procedures on kids and seniors to enhance their personal self image.

VOH: Where is your market?  What markets do you serve?
Most of our patients live or work in Vienna area but some have moved out of the area as far as Florida.  They still return to us for dental care.

VOH: What does the Vienna and Oakton area mean to your business?
This is where I both live and work and I feel a strong connection to the community.  We are able to maintain a family oriented practice due to our location.

VOH: Where do you see your practice heading?  What changes are on the horizon in the field of dentistry?
We are heading in a computerized, digital based practice.  We incorporated digital x-rays last year and are almost paperless!

VOH: When not working what are some of your favorite things to do?
I enjoy boating, traveling and all water activities with my husband and our three children.

VOH: What do you enjoy the most about your career?
I enjoy seeing people smile again and meeting lots of interesting people.
